American carnival glass production reached its zenith in the 1900s–1920s, and the marigold iridescent finish — warm orange and gold shot through with a shifting, oil-on-water shimmer — remains the most iconic and sought-after of all carnival glass colourways. This early 20th-century footed bowl, attributed to the Imperial Glass Company's Lustre Rose pattern (#489), is pressed in a moulded floral and rose design with a scalloped and ruffled rim that catches and refracts light in the characteristic Art Nouveau manner. The tripod three-footed base provides elegant elevation and stability, and the 25cm diameter and 8cm depth create a generous presence suited to centrepiece display or collection.
