Vintage Italian Pottery Chalice Vase Aztec Graffito Signed 9101
An Italian Chalice in Carved Earth
Made by hand in Italy in the 1960s, this art pottery vase takes the classical chalice form, a slender pedestal rising into a generous open cup, and gives it a confident mid-century voice. Glazed in warm mustard yellow and deep brown with grey and silver accents, its glossy surface glows softly in natural light.
Graffito and Aztec Geometry
Around its body runs a geometric, Aztec-inspired band worked in the graffito technique, where the potter scratches through the glaze to reveal the clay beneath. The result is a textured, hand-drawn pattern you can feel beneath your fingertips, part of the celebrated Aztec line produced by Italian studios during the golden age of export art pottery.
Signed and Numbered
The base carries a painted backstamp marked 9101, the studio's model number, a quiet signature of its origins. Standing 20cm tall, it holds its own as a centrepiece on a dining table, sideboard or mantel, and sits beautifully among other mid-century ceramics. An original piece in very good vintage condition.
