Modelled in relief-moulded earthenware and finished in a vivid, glossy green glaze, the dish faithfully renders the organic curl and veining of a fresh lettuce leaf — each contour hand-painted with the care and precision characteristic of Carlton Ware's finest decorative output.

The diamond-form dish measures 26cm in length and 14.5cm in width, making it a generous and practical serving piece as well as a collector's treasure. The impressed backstamp and registered design number RD No. 15689 confirm its authenticity as an original production piece from the 1920s–1930s, placing it firmly within the golden era of British decorative ceramics.
